Huge file-size transfers
Since time immemorial, I have been sending pictures and movies to friends and relatives. Our email accounts were big enuf to handle the under-1MB sizes, when I started off. Then when Yahoo went from 4/5 MB accounts to 100 MB, I felt a lot of free-space in the world. But then, the cat and mouse interchanged their roles, when I bought a 4Mpixel digicam, and the movies ran to 20/30/40 MB each. How could I send these files, when yahoo, gmail etc all have a 10MB attachment limit. Well, I zipped up the movie, split it up into 7MB parts, sent each of them by an email. Well, so much for being smart - in other words - lame ! Until I asked "God" for solutions.
There are so many kinds of stuff out there to send humongous files, some free, some with a size limit, some encrypted, some integrated with IM clients etc. Only one of them appealed to my philosophy - KEEP IT SIMPLE - no downloading of client app - free - no inbox flooding - just upload the file to their servers, they send an email to your friend, your friend downloads it. Oh yeah, has a 1GB limit though. Here it is - YouSendIt
